Dennis: “This is a chance to show what ‘Super Demoreo’ is all about”

Stepping up on two weeks’ notice to take part in the GLORY 21 SAN DIEGO Heavyweight Qualification Tournament is just another day in the office for ‘Super’ Demereo Dennis.

Dennis, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is replacing an injured Everett ‘Wolverine’ Sims against ‘Chopper’ Chi Lewis-Parry (5-0, 1 KO) in the GLORY 21 SAN DIEGO Heavyweight Qualification Tournament.

“That's kind of been my career, I'm always getting called in on a week or two notice so it's nothing new. I tend to stay in shape all the time just to be ready for moments like this. I am ready to go in there and swag on em!” he says.

“I love this sh-t, so this is just another opportunity for me to show the world what ‘Super Demoreo’ is all about.”

Dennis is a professional MMA fighter and kickboxer out of the Academy of Martial Arts in Oklahoma City, where he credits his coach Kentrick Coleman for “bringing me into this sport and helping me with all the struggles that come along with it”.

His brother Myron debuted at GLORY 19 VIRGINIA, though it is Demoreo who has thus far had the highest-profile fight. He faced Pat Barry in January and lost a split-decision. Dennis feels the nod should have gone his way.

“That Pat Barry fight was a lot of fun. I thought I did enough to win, as did most everyone else, but that was my bad for not finishing him,” he says.

“Pat is good people but I would be totally down for a rematch to get the right result. It would be cool if GLORY wanted to put that rematch together.”

In the meantime, Dennis’ focus is entirely on his semi-final match with Lewis-Parry at GLORY 21 SAN DIEGO. Lewis-Parry debuted in fine style at GLORY 20 DUBAI, scoring a 25-second KO victory, the third-fastest finish in GLORY history.

His colorful and charismatic personality has also proved a big hit with fans. Dennis thinks they would get on outside of the ring, but there will be no pre-fight friendships being formed.

“Chi's a big guy with good power and he's a light-skinned brother like me so I'm sure we'd kick it on the outs,” he says. “But right now I'm here to compete and win. Anything else just doesn't work for me.”

GLORY 21 takes place on Friday, May 8 and airs live on Spike TV at 11/10c from Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.

The event is headlined by Middleweight Champion Artem "The Lion" Levin (50-4-1, 33 KOs) of Russia defending his belt against Canadian world Muay Thai champion Simon ‘Bad Bwoy’ Marcus (42-2-1, 24 KOs).

Tickets for GLORY 21 are available now at AXS.com and are priced at $46, $71, and $146.
