GLORY 87 Fight Card: Heavyweight Tournament & Lightweight Title

  • News
  • Jul 3, 2023

GLORY 87 takes place August 19 live from the Rotterdam Ahoy arena in the Netherlands and promises to be another thrilling night on the GLORY kickboxing calendar.

A four-man one-night heavyweight tournament will take centre stage with the winner punching his ticket into the historic end of year GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix for a chance to win a life-changing $500,000.

The four participants are Dutch giant Martin Terpstra (21-5, 11 KO), former light heavyweight title contender Mohamed Amine (29-5, 16 KO), the explosive Bahram Rajabzadeh (62-1, 56 KO), and the bruising power puncher Uku Jürjendal (18-7, 14 KO).

A huge international title fight will feature in the co-main event as Tyjani Beztati (24-4, 9 KO) will put his GLORY lightweight championship on the line against Japanese star Kaito Ono (51-6-1, 22 KO).

Beztati has emerged as one of the top fighters in his division thanks to recent title defenses against Petch, Koprivlenski, and Jauncey. Now he goes up against RISE champion Kaito Ono. Both fighters are 25 years old and this contest could very well determine the best in the world at lightweight.

If that wasn’t enough, former welterweight champ Murthel Groenhart (69-26-3) goes up against rising German star Cihad Akipa (49-11, 18 KO) in a battle between youth & experience, Michael Boapeah (15-3-1, 7 KO) rematches Sergej Braun (43-12, 27 KO), and ‘The Diamond’ Jan Kaffa (19-3, 7 KO) meets Mohamed El Hammouti (7-1, 4 KO) in the opening bout of the main card.

In the free GLORY prelims, Imad Hadar (19-2, 7 KO) and Maksymilian Bratkowicz (11-4, 3 KO) clash with both fighters aiming to secure their first victory in GLORY while Serbia’s Nikola Filipovic (10-2, 6 KO) meets Romania’s Cristian Ristea (44-21, 10 KO) in a reserve bout for the heavyweight tournament.
