Chicago ā€œfelt like homeā€ for Catalin Morosanu

Romanian heavyweight Catalin Morosanu travelled across the Atlantic to make his GLORY debut, but when he walked out into the arena he found himself on what felt like very familiar territory.

Chicago is home to a huge Romanian diaspora. When Morosanu entered the ring for his fight with Maurice Greene and looked around, the stands seemed to be a sea of Romanian flags.

ā€œIt was a big atmosphere! There are a lot of Romanians in Chicago, I feel at home here. I am in Chicago but it's like home. When I came out and saw so many Romanians I cried,ā€ he said afterwards. ā€œFor me its a big start in [the organization], I am so happy. The first win in GLORY! It's a big honor that I have a good start.ā€

Morosanu's debut could not have gone better. He stopped Greene in the second round, following some of the wildest action yet hosted in the GLORY ring.

ā€œI underestimated him. I stayed too much distance away and that was the first round mistake. After that, in the second round, I got closer and I gave him the left hook and that was it. I give myself seven or eight from ten, not 100%, but I will do a lot of training and come very prepared and in one year I will be up there.

ā€œI have two more fights left on my contract and in my next two fights I want to win and then next year glory will decide if I fight the higher [ranked] guys, because the level in GLORY is the highest in the world and I want to be prepared to fight them.ā€
