Oliveira comes from Curitiba in Brazil and came up via Thai Boxe, a Muay Thai gym which is affiliated to the famous Chute Boxe MMA gym, which is just down the road from their facility. Chute Boxe guys are often sent to Thai Boxe for their stand-up sharpening.
He also trains in the Netherlands as much as he can, at Hemmers Gym where he trains under Nicky Hemmers alongside the likes of Errol Zimmerman and Karapet Karapetyan.
He comes from a very tough background, born and raised in a slum district of Curitiba, so he is literally fighting to change his life and the lives of his families. Maybe it's no coincidence that Oliveira’s nickname 'Maloqueiro' roughly translates as ‘street guy’.
