Ulianov dominates Glunder en route to decision win

The SuperFight Series portion of GLORY 64 in Strasbourg kicked off with a featherweight bout between Russia’s Aleksei Ulianov (28-6-1, 1 NC, 7 KO’s) and Moluccan Massaro Glunder (32-13-4, 20 KO’s).

Ulianov looked to get into boxing range right away. The lanky Glunder did his best to stay at range to utilize his reach advantage. Ulianov clinched and was warned for holding.

Glunder frequently slipped the punches of the Russian and fired counters from awkward angles. Ulianov remained disciplined and caught Glunder with a knee to the body along the ropes and another on the break as the first round came to a close.

Glunder increased his volume at the start of round two, but Ulianov was able to stay out of range. Ulianov was able to clinch and score with punches.

He was again warned for holding after dumping Glunder to the mat with a trip. The boxing of Ulianov was crisp and precise, frustrating Glunder more and more as the round progressed.

A left hook from Glunder cracked Ulianov to start round three. The Mike’s Gym product came forward aggressively, trying to find a chink in the armor of the Russian.

The punches of Glunder were wild, as he tried to bait Ulianov into a brawl. Ulianov got the better of a firefight in the center of the ring, before accidentally landing to the cup of Glunder.

The action continued and Ulianov was able to score with push kicks. The right hand of Glunder connected in the fight’s final minute, but Ulianov absorbed the shot and the fight went the distance.

When the scorecards were read, it was Ulianov who earned the clear-cut victory.

Aleksei Ulianov def. Massaro Glunder by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
