Grigorian stops Suarez after short but thrilling war

Harut Grigorian (42-9-0) made his GLORY debut in style with a first-round finish of Máximo Suárez (38-4-0) in the opening fight of GLORY 29 COPENHAGEN's Superfight Series card.

This match between two notoriously aggressive lightweights was never going to go the distance. Both of them, but especially Grigorian, are known for pressing forwards relentlessly and firing more shots in a round than most heavyweights do in a year.

Huge power punches were the order of the day from the outset, Grigorian marching across the ring and into Suarez's half to get things started. From pretty much the opening bell he piled pressure onto the Spaniard, forcing him backwards and hammering non-stop power hooks at his head and body.

Suarez fought back in spirited fashion but Grigorian's onslaught was irresistible and eventually Suarez's guard cracked. Grigorian's firepower poured through and overwhelmed him. Suarez went down hard and clearly was not going to regain his feet, making the referee's count a formality.
