Zoila Frausto (5-0, 4 KO's) came away from her GLORY debut with a win over German veteran Daniel Graf (25-8-1, 2 KO's) at GLORY 37 LOS ANGLES last month and is now looking to get busy and work towards a title shot.
Frausto, born and raised in California, won a unanimous decision after three rounds in a fight which was not only her GLORY debut but her first time competing under kickboxing rules. She has previously competed largely in MMA, where she won a Bellator championship.
“It felt great. It was my first kickboxing fight so it was a little different, a little weird. I like it. It's fast-paced and I feel like it is my type of fight. I just have to get used to it,” she says.
“I fought MMA for years, fought in Muay Thai, kickboxing is different. But it still felt great to get the win, especially with a veteran like that.
“As far as my performance I felt OK with it, I could have done more. I didn't really start opening up until the third round. I hit her harder than she hit me, had her wobbling a bit. I think the harder shots sealed the deal for me.”
Frausto is now looking forward to her next bout in GLORY. She was originally supposed to debut as part of the Women's Super-Bantamweight Grand Prix last year but was forced to withdraw from her quarter-final bout due to injury (Graf was her scheduled opponent then as well).
“I am ready to get back in there. If I can stay active and get a lot of fights, I want to be able to fight more than twice a year. I will be more than happy to fight over and over again,” she says. “Any of the other girls from the tournament would be good as an opponent, they are all exciting fighters.”
GLORY's next event takes place Friday, February 24 at the Sears Centre, Hoffman Estates in Chicago, Illinois.
