A lot of light-heavyweight fighters have a tendency towards brawling as they look for the knockout but French standout Susperregui bucks the trend. He is unusually mobile for a fighter of this weight class and he makes it difficult for his opponents to land clean hits on him. The art of fighting is said to be ‘hit without getting hit’ and Susperregui has taken this principle to heart.
Susperregui has good range and uses the jab well, keeping opponents on the end of long shots where he wants them. Often he will fight moving backwards, firing the jab out as the opponent comes forward, or he will bait the opponent into making an attack and will then counter-attack heavily, working high and low with long combinations.
Last year Susperregui challenged Nathan ‘Carnage’ Corbett for the WKN -- title. Fighting the Australian in his own country he gave a very impressive account of himself and while the he did not win the title, he did win a lot of new fans and a lot of respect. Susperregui has been at the top of his weight class in France for several years now, earning him a call-up to the international premier league which is GLORY.
